On Friday, March 13 THE AFROSONIC TAXI sampled some of the modern roots of Africa. Traditional songs of the Songhai Empire electrified by Mamar Kassey of Niger. Yaba funk roots played on a two-string koliko by Captain Yaba of Bolgatanga, Ghana. Dazzling Tsapika music on homemade mandoliny (guitars) from Tulear, Madagascar. Creole sega played on indigenous percussion by Menwar of Mauritius. Oh, there was much much more….
