Wednesday at 10: DJ Ray explores Students for Ron Paul + Hollywood Scab Writer

This Wednesday at 10PM, KXUA will be running a test show for an as-yet-unnamed hourlong talk/variety show with me as the host that will debut Spring Semester. Here's what you can expect from the first installment:

-Doug Marek from "Students for Ron Paul" sits down with DJ Ray and talks about the group's initiaves, among other things. We see a lot about Ron Paul around campus with those "rEVOLution" bumper stickers and shirts everywhere. But why do these students(and why do people in America) love and support Ron Paul?

-*We've seen the WGA picketing Hollywod Studios and Outdoor Sets for about a week now. But what about the other side? Alex Perez, The Hollywood Scab Writer, is billing himself as a guy who wants to give America entertainment during the strike. Is he satire? Is he dead serious? Is he effing crazy for publicly announcing he wants to cross the picket line? For more info on his crazy quest to give America what it wants, visit http://www.youtube.com/hollywoodscabwriter.com or go to http://www.hollywoodscabwriter.com .

All that and more on this fun hour of interviews, some music, and fun, Wednesday at 10PM only on KXUA 88.3 Fayetteville.

*(denotes pre-recorded interview).

Dr. Dog visits KXUA

Last year, before hitting the big time, the previous exec staff was able to secure Dr. Dog for a very memorable back to school bash. The crowd was huge, and everyone seemed to know every song. Earlier that day for some reason I had agreed to interview the band in the studio. I freely admit that this was a mistake on my part. I had no interviewing experience at the time and was pretty nervous about the whole thing. I plowed through the four or five questions I had jotted down on an index card, mainly about recording music cause thats about all I know, and then was pretty lost as to what to ask them. I laugh a lot when I'm nervous, and it really comes out in this interview. Despite my inept journalistic instincts the guys were really nice and we had a good time. we were still experimenting with podcasting at the time, so we managed to record the interview although the quality is pretty poor. But Jordan snapped the picture of them above (which happens to be their picture on Wikipedia.) I also recorded the show with my tape recorder, and that actually turned out pretty awesome. I am a firm believer that good music is always good no bad how bad the recording.

EDIT: I just remembered that The Traveler chopped up my interview the best they could and published it later that week. It's pretty obvious that they were struggling for to find something useful out of the interview.

You can download the interview and the recorded performance from later that night at the Gypsy right here.

Also, check out this music video of their song My Old Ways, it's really awesome.
