LIVE LIVE LIVE! from Africa

...well mostly. THE AFROSONIC TAXI sampled the concert scene on Friday, August 28. We started and ended at the Filmore in San Francisco with Ozomatli doing a funk rap cumbia. In between we heard the trance jazz of Orchestre National Barbes, Toureg bands from the Festival in the Desert, rocking Pulaar rhythms from Baaba Maal, makossa funk from Manu Dibango, and Afrobeat from Femi Kuti. All recorded live.
Of course there was so much more. To re-live the ride, click on the podcast link.

a joyful noise | mondays at 10pm

a second set of Malian tracks, courtesy of the yaala yaala label and this blog

heavy, hypnotic stuff

be sure and tune in to the Afrosonic Pop show on Fridays 8-10pm for similar sounds, so far a really great show that is desperately in need of a podcast
