Orange Skies

Last night was an oh so special edition of Orange Skies. I lived up to my promise, and managed to play four songs within the two hours span. If you can make it past the first song by Univers Zero, then kudos to you

Orange Skies

Last nights show was an extra special tribute to Captain Beefheart. I somehow managed to leave out songs from Lick My Decals, but played a whole slew of songs from Strictly Personal, Mirror Man, Clear Spot, and Spotlight Kid. If you haven't heard anything of Beefheart and the Magic Band past Trout Mask Replica, then you should give this a listen. Well, really you should download this show either way. It's a good one all around.

Orange Skies

This weeks show was cut a little short, but still crammed full of great music including a short adventure into some late 70's pop weirdness by R Stevie Moore, the Shoes, and Sparks, as well as a track by The Red Krayola, who's fearless leader, Mayo Thompson, is picture above.

Orange Skies

This week on Orange Skies, in honor of the year 2009 I decided a little a change was necessary so I expanded the format of my show to include more Progressive rock as well as just general avant garde and experimental music from the 60s and 70s. Of course it will still be heavy, and the songs will still be strange and long. Enjoy

Orange Skies

This week i misplaced my thumb drive, and could not open my cd burner, so i was without the music i was going to play this week. Instead i indulged myself in a live performance of ambient electronic and sound collages using Java Synth programs found online here
It was a lot of fun although not the normal format of my show. There are no pauses or announcements or anything, just two hours straight of ambient music. i might recommend putting it on while reading a book, trying to go to sleep, painting, or hallucinating. Enjoy!

Ghost Mouth of the Clouds

Here is the new album by The Kicker Knot, an elusive bearded wizard hiding out somewhere in a cave in the Ozark Mountains. His sounds have been described as sounding like being naked in the woods with amnesia . also its free, download it and promptly delete it once you have been sufficiently freaked out.

ORANGE SKIES

Had a great show the other night. Brains were melted with the 13 minute epic opener from Amon Duul II's second album Yeti, and more good stuff. Keep listening Wednesday's 10-12am, as I am constantly finding new good stuff to play on my show!

Now I'd like to take a minute to highlight one of the best American bands from the 60's, and that is the Lovin Spoonful. Often time they get overlooked because we've all heard the hits than we would have liked to (Do you beleive in Magic, Summer in the City etc). Hopefully you will be convinced by watching the videos below as i, that the Lovin Spoonful are one of the best American bands of the 60's. There are some great camera pans on the cute girls in the front row, swooning over John Sebastian's sweet auto harp playing as well as very righteous guitar solos, and drumming. Enjoy
