The last Pop Tarts!

I'm afraid that, given the overwhelming amount of Actual Work on my roster this semester, I have had to put The Pop Tart on indefinite hiatus and I won't be returning to KXUA. In parting, I offer you the last two shows I recorded. They are riddled with various technical glitches, because my mind was in a hundred other places at the end of last semester, but the music is still pretty awesome.

The Pop Tart 12/1/08

This week, Fabienne DelSol's got Chills and Fever, Pas/Cal Wanna Take You Out in Your Holiday Sweater, Electrocute wanna be your Saturn Rings, and The Decemberists are simply Sticking With You. Like Jolie Holland says: Enjoy Yourself!

The first 60 seconds or so are haunted by the auditory ghosts of Lady Z's own technological ineptitude, but this week's Pop Tart is still a treat: a collection of love songs compiled by one Blind Derek Jenkins for our Fayetteville wedding party! Fans of Mystery Train won't want to miss this, Lady Z's last broadcast on the KXUA airwaves.

Best of KXUA all this week and next!

Kind of late to post this I guess, but this week, next week (and last week) we will have (and have had) mostly the best of KXUA playing in lieu of random automationness. By that I mean old recordings of great KXUA shows. (So that's why the Drive in Speakerbox was playing at 8:00AM this morning!) So the good part is that we don't have to listen to randomness for days and days, we get hand picked music from KXUAs most dedicated DJs. The bad news is that we get a lot of confusing out dated PSAs, concert calendars, and references to what time it is that are totally off. THIS CAN BE WEIRD! But, the keen listener should be able to pick up on the fact that it's a recording. KXUA will continue to play best of shows until DJs start coming back possibly sometime next week. DJs that are still in town are still doing there shows at their regular times.

ALSO, we now have an answering machine in the studio on the request line. So, if no one is in the studio give it a call and leave us a message. Good messages will be used on the air!

Lady Z returns from her wild wedding weekend in New York to bring you a selection of auditory sweets from Pizzicato Five to Gary "US" Bonds, and has so much fun she forgets to announce the last two tracks (they are Dusty Springfield, "In the Middle of Nowhere" and Jenny Lewis with Elvis Costello, "Carpetbaggers").

Where's the Pop Tart?

Sorry, folks—two weeks ago, The Pop Tart was displaced by a Ladybacks game, then I took a week off to eat turkey in New York, and tonight there's another Ladybacks game. I'll be back next week to play this kick-ass playlist that's burning a hole through my hard drive. Till then, you'll just have to play this awesome video by la belle Yelle over and over and over.
